F1 Student in USA has applied Online for Canadian Visitor Visa

Hi everyone,

I am F1 student in United Stated since 2013. I applied Canadian Visitor Visa online on Dec 5 2016. Its been 5 weeks but there is no change in status. It still show as "Open status" whereas standard processing time from USA is only 22 calendar days.

I am originally from Pakistan and have previously visited to many countries including Schengen, UK, Korea, Romania, Russia, China and many others in last 8 years.

I am wondering if it is normal that Visitor Visa application from F1 students in US takes this long?

I applied Visa because i wanted to drive to Canada during my winter semester break for pleasure. My spring semester is starting Jan 30th thats why i am worrying that i might wont get visa on time.

Please help, comment, share your own experience or pass your opinion that what should i be expecting from this delay? thanks

Hi, i guess you should send a case specific inquiry. My spouse is also an F1 Visa hold as well, she applied for Canada TRV online on Dec 8, 2016 and got passport request on Jan 9, 2017.

I have submitted case specific inquiry 3 days ago.. Hope i will get answer in 10 days as they said. I will update the status as soon as i get a response. thanks

Well, Finally i received an email that i have a unread message in my CIC inbox. When i checked, it was a Letter, asking me to submit my passport with 1 blank page etc and good validity.
Even though, i have submitted my passport today in visa application center in NY but My status in CIC is still showing as "open". I requested Urgent processing in visa application center as i am already out of normal processing time and so they accepted my request

Upon tracking on VAC website, it shows as in transit to "Visa office". Hope i will get my passport back by the end of next week. Do you have an idea that how long they normally take for normal process and/ or urgent process?
