It's September, and we still have not seen the official Mid-Year report from IRCC yet. However, IRCC did upload a new set of data for Express Entry on Monday, September 2nd, 2016, so I downloaded them and played with them a bit.

Here are my findings. Please, if you have time, take a look at the spreadsheet and correct me.

Express Entry ITAs issued by Age as of June 30th 2016 (3)

Surprisingly, candidates with age from 30 to 44 years old belong to the largest group which received PRs in Express Entry system. I guess although they lose points in the age factor, but they, on the other hand, receive significantly more points for work experience and degrees (two degrees or Master).

Express Entry ITAs issued by Immigration Category (CEC, FSW etc.) as of June 30th 2016 (4)

Looks like CEC class does pretty well in 2016, as they are accounted for 37.6% of all ITAs issued compared to FSW with 33.8%. However, based on my observation, this happens due to a lot of CEC aka former int'l students have utilized the LMIA route (as cook or food supervisor) to get ahead (take a look at chart (6) below)

ClassITAsPercentage
Canadian Experience Class479837.60%
Federal Skilled Trades6244.80%

Top 20 NOC invited under FSW class as of June 30th 2016 (5)

For FSW, IT and Financial occupations are the largest groups got ITAs, especially Software Developers (NOC 2173), IT consultants (NOC 2171) and Web Developers (NOC 2174). Looks like some Business majors like Marketing and Sales do not fare very well.

Top 20 NOC invited under CEC class as of June 30th 2016 (6)

As I stated above, Food service supervisors and Cooks are the largest occupations which got ITAs under CEC class. In addition, these two positions are also accounted for more than 16% of all LMIA issued.

This doesn't make sense at all, since CEC applicants came to Canada to study in higher education, means they usually have at least Diploma or Bachelor degrees. How come a majority of them work as Fastfood supervisor and Cooks?

I think this is due to the unfair scoring system of Express Entry which makes CEC applicants cannot compete with FSW counterparts due to the lack of (foreign) work experience and degrees. Therefore, some CEC applicants decided to go with the LMIA route.

I'm glad that IRCC can see this loophole, and they are making chances to eliminate it.

Thanks for the summary!
My god! There are 5693 people in the 600 - 1000 score range. This means that they have core human capital scores < 400. That's atrocious! While there are literally thousands struggling around scores of 450 without PNP or LMIA.

That's why the LMIA needs to be fixed ASAP. I say IRCC should award 100 points maximum for an approved LMIA position.

That's a really lazy report. means nothing and it's not relevant. They have to break it down more than that.
They have grouped the score like that since the Mid-year report 2015. 451-500 can mean a CEC applicant with Bachelor degree, 2 years of canadian work exp and clb 9 or with Master degree.
