Hey All! I became a citizen earlier this year (March) and meanwhile did my driving license. What I noticed is that my and my spouse's driving licenses expire in 2024. We only recently did both of them (G and G2), so we thought that the expiration date will go for a few years, but it seems to expire as our PRs would. Is this normal? Shouldn't a G2 be valid for 5 years? Is there going to be a problem for me to apply for a new one? Thanks everyone for your answers.

Should not be a problem. You wold be able to renew online later on. Not sure why did they not give you longer duration
expiration date is calculated from G1 date normally.
Eventually at renewal it will marry health card and license both expiring on you bday same year.

You can call Service Ontario or the equivalent in your province but renewals would normally be until the fifth birthday coming after the renewal date. That's assuming you've waited until the renewal date and didn't ask for a reissue in the middle of the current period.

Your first renewal is for 2 years set to expire on your 2nd birthday after the card issual, and thereafter it is every 5 years expiring on your 5th birthday from the date of second renewal.
