Hello,

My current Work Permit (Temporary Reidence) is now a "visitor visa", because I lost my job. It will expire in the end of April, 2018.

I'm eligible for a EE / PR, via CEC (18 months of Canadian working experience), my profile entered the pool this week.

So, it is very likely that, if I receive an invitation to apply for a PR, it will happen after April, then, I'll NEED to so something now, to maintain my legal status in Canada.

But, what to do? Can I extend my stay here? If yes, how?

I'm reading the following page now:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/apply-new-temporary-resident-visa-within-canada.html

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp?_ga=2.46327714.468191359.1519665316-647554182.1518131362

So, what to do exactly?

Thanks!

You don't need a TRV. A visa is for entering Canada. You are already in Canada. You need to change your status in Canada to visitor status.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/extend-stay.html

The third case applies to you: changing your permit conditions.

Thank you!

So, now, I'm doing the following (I want to apply online):

1- Access:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/extend-stay.html

2- Click on link "extend your stay as a visitor":

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/extend-stay/apply.html

3- Determine if you're eligible:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/come-canada-tool.html

3.1- Checking eligibility:

http://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/eapp/eapp.do

Now, what to do? There are questions here and I don't know exactly how to answer, for example, the first one:

1- "What would you like to do in Canada? (required)"?

Possible answers: Study, Visit, Move There, Work, Transit Only, IEC

Since I'm already here, what I want? Visit? Move There (already living here)?

I'm guessing that I want to "visit".

---

2- "Have you lived in Canada as a permanent resident or landed immigrant? (required)"

Yes or no? Am I a "landed immigrant"?

I'm guessing "no".

---

3- "What is your current immigration status in Canada? (required)"

I'm guessing here that my current status is "Worker", because I have a Work Permit but, since I lost my job, I'm not sure if I was "downgraded" to a "visitor", even if I still have bills to pay, driver's license, cars and etc (so, I'm not a "regular visitor"), I don't know exactly... So, what about the "Temporary Resident Permit Holder"?

---
Based on the information you provided, the result(s) below indicate(s) whether you may be eligible to come to Canada.

Visitors (in Canada)
You may be eligible to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor / tourist.

Thanks again!
