The wordings are a bit confusing in the papers received with the CPR form. In one place it says - "As a general rule, permanent residents may apply for citizenship after accumulating 3 years of residence in Canada."
In another, "Permanent residents comply with residency obligations if they accumulate 2 years of physical presence in Canada in every 5-year period."
At the CIC website, it says "To become Canadian citizens, adults must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying."
I guess the Obligations of PRs are different from that required for applying for citizenship. Would appreciate seniors' comments on this.
