Information for foreign-trained architects
Information on requirements to practise

The profession of architect is regulated in all provinces and territories in Canada. This means that, by law, no one can practise the profession of architect without a license. Provincial and territorial regulatory bodies of architects are responsible for setting the standards for entry into the profession and for issuing licenses to those who meet established standards of qualifications and practice. It is illegal to practise the profession or use the title of architect without being licensed as a full member in a provincial/territorial regulatory body.

Information on assessment of qualifications
Internationally-trained architects will need to contact the Canadian Architectural Certification Board to know how their educational qualifications would be assessed. Their address is as follows:

Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB)
710 - 1 Nicholas Street
Ottawa ON K1N 7B7 Canada
Phone : 613-241-8399
Fax : 613-241-7991
Email : info @ cacb.ca
http://www.cacb.ca/

This is the first step on the way to licensure, and it is mandatory to start the licensure/registration process in every province and territory in Canada. The assessment takes about three months from the date of submission of complete application.

The provincial and territorial associations are responsible for the two other steps (internships and examinations) of the process. For all general information requests related to academic qualifications, you are invited to contact the CACB.

Once you know where you will settle and work, you should contact the appropriate provincial/territorial regulatory body for information on licensing procedures (see list below).

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada also provides information for foreign-trained architects who wish to practise their profession in Canada.

You may also consult the Fact Sheet No. 2 (at the link below), which has been compiled to help individuals learn more about how to obtain an assessment of their qualifications for employment purposes in Canada.

Hi Qorax,
I am not from this thread.
I have applied Under NOC 1111,New Delhi CHC on 4th march,
In Process Since 12th April10,Verification Call 18th May,
after that No News No Add. Doc Request/Refusal/Medical/Interview.

I have inquired two times and got same Answer that

"your case is Awaiting V.O's Review
for any Next step in this Appli. will be informed to you.until that no further communication is required on your part and the time."

I have ordered CAIPS Notes on 14th July probably will get around 20 august. on 4th august 5 months will be completed.

what can be the reason for delay without any reason?

If it's 4th Mar 2010, then where's the delay? It's only 4 months now... U should expect something around 5-6 months. Also, that CAIPS might just not reflect anything@such early stages.

Relax! Your good is about to come...

Hi Qorax,

You are an amazing individual and the tremendous energy you bring to this forum is simply mind boggling.Inspite of, having landed in canada, still you are able to allocate time and energy to reply to the queries of so many members in this forum is credit worthy.

I also have a query - Can i carry a Carton box as part of my checked in baggage on British Airways from India to Canada. If so,what would be the advisable dimension.

Thanks and regards

What to do with larger/bulky items:
You may take bags up to the dimensions 190cm x 75cm x 65cm (75in x 29.5in x 25.5in), including the handle, pockets and wheels.

-This allows you to take items such as sporting equipment and musical instruments etc at no additional cost. This can be in the form of cartons as well.

-These larger bags can take longer to arrive from your flight and are generally delivered to a separate area of the baggage hall.

REF: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bagchk/public/en_gb

Beyond the above dimensions, regrets u'll have to send separate Cargo shipments only.
