Divorced is marriage certificate needed?

Hello dear fellows,
I was browsing CIC site and found out this:
Purpose
To validate marital status claims

Document requirements

• This document is requested only when marital status is listed as married. This is for persons who are married I suppose.

• The divorce certificate is requested only when marital status is listed as divorced

As far as I understood if you are divorced ONLY divorce certificate is needed? Or should I also upload marriage certificate as well?
Please help me with this?
