Delay in Parent SuperVisa Application (Delhi Visa office) - Seeking Advice

Dear All,

I have been regular follower of this forum as a “guest”, and in the past have received valuable advice, which has been helpful for my PR application processing. Hence, today I am seeking advice regarding my mother’s supervisa application processing time.

I am a Canadian PR (since 2012), and my mother is an Indian citizen. She had visited Canada for 3 months on a toursit visa back in 2013. This year, I applied for her supervisa online; significant dates as follows:

Application date – July 24, 2015

Medicals were done prior to submission of the application on June 16, 2015 – when the panel physician had asked her to go for the 3-day sputum test (she never had TB though), and after two months – August 26/2015, she got a negative result for TB. She was then asked by the panel physician to consult a chest-specialist, who gave her a clean chit. All information was submitted on August 26, 2015 by the panel physician. We heard back on August 28, 2015 from the Delhi Visa Office (high-commission) that on September 17, 2015 (3 months from her initial testing), she needed to do another X-ray, and take a second opinion from a chest specialist. This process was also completed, and there were no problems with any medicals – and the panel physician passed it on to the high-commission.

However, since then, it is one month now, and we haven’t heard back from the high-commission at all. Further, there is no status update when we check online – which still states “medical information required”.

This is very frustrating as originally I had planned to bring her in Canada before the winters, and now it looks unlikely.

If anyone had gone through this, please advice if I just need to wait, or there is something I can do that will help expedite processing of the application.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do but to wait it out.

As your mom has been sent through secondary medical checks, it seems panel physicians suspect she has TB/chest ailment and want to be sure that she doesn't (if all tests are clear). TB is a communicable disease and a serious health concern. Hence, the extra precaution.

Has your mom been put on medication for TB? If all tests are clear then it's a matter of time before her visa application is processed.

Don't worry. All the best :)

Thanks for your response and motivation, I do need it. Waiting out is the only thing we can do now.

I tried calling the high commission, but not much help there as well.

I completely agree and understand the implications of TB (being in medical industry myself), but my mother never had TB or any chest infection. They did several X-rays and did not find anything. The sputum/smear test was also negative for TB. The chest specialist informed my mother twice that her health was fine, and so did the panel physician. We waited 3 months for all the medical tests - and their results, before starting with the wait period.

I'm not in the medical field (and I could be wrong).... pneumonia (even in her childhood) can be misdiagnosed and easily confused with TB. Some of the tests (x-rays, sputum test, etc are the same). That's why the chest x-ray is repeated after 3 months to confirm the absence of TB.

Don't worry. As all tests are negative, hopefully your mom will get her Super Visa soon :)
