I got my Oath date today for October 11 at 10:30 am in Ottawa. The problem is that i am also planning to travel by land to the USA that same day. I have checked online and it appears that i can use the Citizenship Certificate i will receive on the Oath Ceremony Date as proof of citizenship when coming back into Canada on land. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Thanks!
My Oath is also same time same day :)

I would say that if your travel plan can be post-poned, just do that. In my case, my business trip is something that I am required to attend so it's a non-negotiable unfortunately. I sent an email to CIC already, I hope they haven't already scheduled ceremonies for late October or early November.

I can't really postpone my trip too. i will look more into it though before making a decision either way. Its just a bit annoying.

Just a note for people waiting for their Oath. I had done my test on July 11th and the Officer informed me i was ready for the citizenship ceremony and should get invited in a few weeks. After waiting for over a month, i decided to apply for my GCMS notes. I got the notes today as well as my invite for the oath ceremony. In the notes, it clearly stated as of July 11th that i had passed all assessments and i was ready for the citizenship ceremony, yet I never got an invite until today.

I find it interesting that i got the invite on the same day my gcms note was released. Makes me wonder if applying for the GCMS notes can trigger some action on your file. I don't think it hurts to try if you find yourself in the same shoes i was in.

Got my Oath ceremony email today, but unfortunately they scheduled me on October 11th, which is exactly the day I am leaving for a business trip... I sent an email to CIC to have my oath rescheduled. Hopefully it's not going to be months later as I replied within hours of having received the oath email.

lucky you, guys! Still in Ottawa and still waiting :). Congrats from my end!!

Hi Guys,

I just checked my ecas:

They already sent a notice of meeting on September 18, 2019 for my oath taking ceremony on October 9, 2019 at 1pm but I don't receive any email
or mail up to now.
I was waiting for this update since April 17.
Is this by email or mail?
Any other documents need to bring during oath taking?

thanks,
olax99

Thank you for the response.

I just called the IRCC and they confirmed to me that they send the notice by regular mail last Sept. 18, 2019.
