Had the test today, my suggestion is as follows:Shalom1 said:Please, I need answer to this question:
Our test is scheduled for Friday this week. I am almost done with the official book the 3rd time. We are concerned with so many dates and names in the book particularly in the chapter of Canadian History.
Are there date-specific questions in the test?
Do we need to memorize dates or names?
Thanks
Congrats for your test and thank you for your response.charu27 said:Had the test today, my suggestion is as follows:
1. Read the book carefully, don't just skim.
2. Do online test. Google: canada citizenship test. There are many free sites and all about the same with small variations, or also use free apps, or pay the cheap one ($2?). No need to pay for expensive training program.
By doing 1 & 2, you will get an idea of which names/dates you need to know (Don't worry, nothing complicated). Keep doing the test + reading, and if your score is already around 90%+ all the time, you're OK.
By the way, the actual problem is quite different from the ones on the sites/apps, maybe they updated the problems recently.
I got 20/20 in the exam. The interview also went very smoothly.
Good luck.
Thanks for your reply. I don't have any plans to travel anytime soon. I will wait and see if I can get the citizenship before Dec of 2015.thecoolguysam said:It's more like a personal decision.
If you have plans to travel abroad then you may apply for pr card renewal.
If you don't have any plans to travel abroad then you should wait for your oath and you need to submit your pr card during oath ceremony.
This is what the link states:

If you have a permanent resident card, you must also bring it even if it has expired.

I received my invitation to write the citizenship test on Friday, July 31. Unfortunately, I am traveling that day. :-( I did call the CIC office (twice) and both officials said that it should not be a problem. One marked on my file that I am traveling and need to reschedule. And both instructed me to send a letter, with my travel itinerary, to the office. Apparently this is rather common from what the agent told me. (The agents were very helpful.)
I sent my letter with the itinerary. Hopefully it will not be a problem.
Also, although my file was sent to the Mississauga office, my test is for Scarborough. Anyone else have that?

Hi Esense, it went OK. Passed the exam with 18/20 but the officer was very picky on all stamps. Lots of questions also. Didn't promise anything for the oath date. Just checked e-case and no update yet. Have you seen any changes?esense said:Hi everyone,
so we've passed our test last week, everything went smooth ;D Officer said that we will have to wait from 2 to 4 months for the Oath.
MTLR - how was your test? As we were in the same place same time
Hi MTLR, congrats for passing the test! Our officer did not promised anything as well, she said 2 to 4 months. Today I've got a duplicate line in ECAS, that they sent me a letter ( again : ) on June 17th to take test on June 23rd ...MTLR said:Hi Esense, it went OK.
