Dear Matlal,

Please help me in deciding the duties for NOC 4131.I am working as Lectrurer in Computer Science and teaching all subjects related to POST GRADUATE IN COMPUTER APPLICATION & DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER APPLICATION.

Please help in arranging the duties in complete details.

In Duties can we mention SUPERVISE NON TEACHING ASSSITANTS in Place of Teaching Assistant.

Hi Harprtsingh,

I presume you are at the stage of sending your initial application to CIO - Canada.

As of enlisting your duties are concerned, you needn't delve into the intricacies or employ a detailed approach like drafting a resume.
As far as supervision is concerned, they would like to know, if you have led any groups or led a team or have the ability to co-ordinate and that you are an effective team player.

These are the duties which are enlisted under NOC 4131 category.

I have re-ordered it for you - Choose the ones which are applicable to you and elaborate with a line of two.
1. Teach students using a systematic plan of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, shop sessions, seminars, case studies, field assignments and independent or group projects (There is nothing much you can change here, but maybe you can use the one’s which apply to you most)

2. Prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses : Include a line or two here

3. Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress : Include what you have devised to grade students
4. Advise students on program curricula and career decisions

5. Individualized tutorial/remedial instructions or handhold students or provide customized session/classes for the students needing special
attention.

6. Supervise independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory work or hands-on training - Include a line about projects you have piloted.

7. Supervise teaching assistants – Reword this to supervising and coordinating -name few projects here

8. May serve on committees concerned with matters such as budgets, curriculum revision, and course and diploma requirements. (Use this again to emphasize your role as a catalyst in bringing about change, around you)

9. Write a line or two about your specialization

Keeping these 9 to 10 points as a framework – weave your duties around them. Try to stick to the same wordings. On the same note, do emphasize your teaching/lecturing abilities.

Do include an additional sheet. Prepare a table like the one shown in the Economic Declaration Form. The font “Arial” Size 12points. Don’t exceed a A4 sheet. And try to keep the duties brief.

Please use Microsoft Excel to prepare the table. It will look very neat and not make the page look very cluttered.
