Hi experts,
Need your advice/opinion please.
I have seen it with other applicants that language, physical presence and prohibitions are completed same day. In my case my prohibitions is in process since march first week.
i ordered GCMS notes but couldn’t figure out much reading it.
Which part of the GCMS notes should I read so see exact status of the file and to see if my file is routine or non-rountine?
Any other advice/opinion please?

here’s my timeline-

AOR - March 16 (single, online)
FP and test request - Nov 14
FP done - Nov 15
Test done - Dec 3
BG check and test showing completed in tracker - Dec 9.
Passport photos asked & send - Dec 15
Online Interview - march 3
Language and physical presence complete - march 7
Prohibitions in process - March 7

thanks in advance!

I'm no expert, but this is what the official website says about Prohibitions:

Situations that may prevent you from becoming a Canadian citizen
You cannot become a citizen if you’re prohibited under the Citizenship Act. For example, if
  • you’re in Canada
    • serving a term of imprisonment
    • on parole
    • on probation
  • you’re serving a sentence outside Canada
  • you’re charged with, on trial for, or involved in an appeal for an offence
    • under the Citizenship Act, or an indictable offence in Canada
    • committed outside Canada that’s equivalent to an indictable offence in Canada
  • you’re under a removal order (Canadian officials asked you to leave Canada)
  • you’re being investigated for, are charged with, on trial for, involved in an appeal for or have been convicted of
    • a war crime, or
    • a crime against humanity
  • you had a citizenship application refused for misrepresentation in the past 5 years
  • you had your Canadian citizenship revoked (taken away) because of fraud in the past 10 years
  • you’ve been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or an offence under the Citizenship Act, and
    • if we received your application after June 11, 2015, and this conviction took place in the 4 years beforeyou apply
  • in the 4 years beforeyou apply, you were convicted of an offence outside Canada that’s equivalent to an indictable offence in Canada. This applies
    • even if you were pardoned or granted amnesty
    • regardless of when we receive your application
  • while a permanent resident, you
    • were convicted of terrorism, high treason, treason or spying offences
    • served as a member of an armed force of a country or territory, or an organized armed group, that’s engaged in armed conflict with Canada
If you’re not sure whether the above situations apply to you, contact your lawyer or arresting police officer.
If any of the above situations apply to you
  • wait until the situation no longer applies beforeyou apply for citizenship
    • Exception: You can never resume your citizenship if it was revoked due to fraud in the past 10 years.
  • tell us about the situation in your application
  • we’ll review your application on a case-by-case basis
If these situations apply to you while we’re still processingyour application, you mustcontact us as soon as possible.

Unlikely you will find out what the issue is from the GCMS notes. Whether your application is routine or non-routine, you are the best judge of that. and would know even before your apply. For prohibitions and BGC, there are other agencies involved so IRCC is dependent on their input.

From application to Oath I took almost 40 months including lockdown during Covid. So don't rush to compare your status with others. You have ZERO influence on the time, the process and outcome of your application. When you are stressed out because of the delay (March was only 2 months away!) take a step back and reflect on what is the lack of citizenship preventing you from doing. There are some jobs you can't apply for and can't vote in the elections. There's no election coming so that only leaves the job scenario. If you qualify, you can make a case for urgent processing but for your own sanity, don't lose sleep over it.

I did a small analysis on the 2023 citizenship applications sheet, and on average it takes 34 days to complete prohibitions for 2023 applicants. Although, note that there's been only 3 people that had an issue like this. So the data might be highly inaccurate. Here's the "data."

It’s ridiculous what IRCC is doing to ppl with unreasonable delays in completing prohibitions. It looks like it’s purely based on officer whims in interpreting the prohibitions act.
The short answer is mandamus!

Did you figure out what was slowing down your application from your GCMS notes?

hahahha. it has been a while since I made this table and there's a lot more people that are not on the tracking sheet, so I stopped doing this. The average is definitely longer than 34 days hahaha.
