It may cause more than a simple delay. Whenever your visa is announced to be ready to issue, you have 30 days to send a valid passport to the embassy. It may take more than 1 month for anyone in Iran to have their new passport issued, posted, and received. You may simply lose your visa according to such delay.

u r right . I 'm afraid our case passed one year and they may issue the visa any day , who knows . by the way, it is possible to ask for faster issuance , though they require a valid reason like an upcoming flight ticket.

No need for that. The validity of the COPR will be determined by 2 things: 1. Medical expiration date 2. Passport expiration date. COPR will expire on the earlier date between these two.
Since there's no way to extend a COPR's validity date once it expires, it becomes an important issue to keep in mind.

In the PPR email, it has been stated that " passports must be valid beyond your planned date of arrival in Canada". So, it seems that there will be no problem if the passport has a validity of 2-3 months at the time when the visa is gonna be issued.

isnt it a rule that for any travel (regardless of canada or not) your passport must be valid for 6 month before the departure of your flight? 2/3 weeks ago at the counter in the airport the agent checked to make sure its valid for atleast 6 months...check in to that maybe?!

When I, myself, supposed to send my passport to Damascus in 2010, they had asked me for a passport to be valid for at least 6 months. Now, I just rewrote what they said in my spouse's PPR email. BTW, it does not sound reasonable to depart Iran with a nearly-expired passport while there is always a chance for an early return. Thus, I always recommend ppl to change their passports within 9-12 months before expiration.

I guess the "straightforward" definition by the officer is very vague and it seems depends on the taste and attitude of the officer! In sponsorship cases that couples are legally married and have filled all the information they asked for, I can't logically justify why a file should be treated different than others. The only logical reason for delay could be incomplete documents or files that show couples are not married legally etc. In short I don't think this is a complicated mathematical problem that needs researching and thinking through to justify the time it takes, it is only the matter of document being complete and valid. I don't think it is so complicated at least not for most of us here.

They also check to see whether the marriage is actually genuine. There are a lot of fake marriages where the person (usually a male) pays someone here a large sum of money to get married so that he can come to Canada. I personally know ann Iranian couple like that from many years ago. I made me sick when I heard this.

i agree with u n gonna wait for 2 more months caz dont really want my app get delayed. i have also heard once u get ur visa issued on ur passport then u may renew ur old pass n take 2 passports while departing to Canada. i'd rather get it renewed as everything is done if this is true.

Sepide jan, if i remember correctly, your old passport will get punched after getting a new one. Afterwards, you are not capable of using the old one even if you have a valid visa inside.

i know its gonna get punched but this is exactly what i read on applyabroad پرواز به کانادا ( بلیت، آژانس، خطوط هواپیمایی) a few months ago. maybe they're not punching the visa page. i was looking for the post right now. anyways i think i must ask IKA regarding that cuz i need a reliable source.

Hi everyone , my wife send her passport to Ankara by using a travel agancy in tehran , they said it would take 14 business days to get it back and it cost 250.000 taman, they also said the Canada embassy is closed 3 days a week on Fri. Sat. and Sunday , so they work only 4 days a week ,so including these days ,it will take 21 days for us to get it .

we had to delay for a day because they also need 2 pictures along with the passport that we didnt have ready

I also got her one way KLM ticket to Vancouver that cost $1500.00 , damn expensive, but concidering she will be here in 23 days , it is totally worth it for me. very hard to get tickets these days , there were other cheaper ones with 2 stops ($ 200,$300 cheaper) but I didnt want to make it more difficult for her .

good news, just be careful KLM is gonna cancel flight to/from iran from Apr.
