Hello,
Since I lived in Canada for a couple of years (I now live in Europe), I thought it would be a good idea to call CRA just to make sure that I am in a regular situation before I apply for the skilled worker program. Ie., I would not try to go back to Canada if I was being accused of tax fraud or whatever.
Anyway, the curious thing is CRA knew the day I left Canada, even though I had not communicated it to them. That means CIC/RCMP sent that information to CRA. This is probably a two-way communication channel.
I don't know if this could affect your application, but if you lived in Canada and ever filled a tax return form, it may be worth calling CRA and checking on your status.
