Confused - NOC 21231 or 21232? Job Title: Software Engineer [CEC]

Hi, I am confused about which NOC to select for my job. Because NOC 21231 says Software Engineer, my job title is also Software Engineer. But, the main duties under the NOC do not match what I do at work daily. In my opinion, they match a lot with the job title of a Software Architect. NOC 21232 main duties seem like the things I do at work on a day-to-day basis but I'm scared to select it because my job title quite literally says "Software Engineer" and not something vague.

Also, under 21231 it says the title Engineer is regulated in Canada and I need a license from P.Eng to be a Software Engineer (which I've never heard of).

What should I do? Which NOC to select? Is there anything specific I need to include in the reference/employment letter to clarify that I belong to NOC 21232 and not the other? Do I actually belong to NOC 21232 because my job title says NOC 21231?

My employer agreed to add NOC to the letter (I asked if they could do it). Any advice will be appreciated.

NOC 21231 - Software Engineers and Designers
NOC 21232 - Software Developers and Programmers
