Hi Guys, I need some info on citizenship. Somebody told me that if you study in Canada then that time counts for your citizenship. Is this true? I got my PR in 2013 and by default you have to wait for 4 years before you can apply for citizenship.
I studied for 2 years and wonder if this info is true then i am eligible to apply for citizenship

Thanks

It used to be that time spent in Canada prior to becoming a permanent resident counted as half a day towards your citizenship, and you only needed to be in Canada for 3 out of 5 years.

Stephen Harper changed it to be time before PR meant nothing, and you need 4 out of 6 years.

So right now, your time studying means nothing for citizenship purposes. It might change in the future so keep an eye on the news.
