My application has been in process since September 2018 and I am a June applicant. Is this Normal?

I mailed the package on June 11th and they have received it on June 13th, 2018. My application is single and I am based in Montreal.

Below are the steps showing in my application so far:
  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on June 23, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 13, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on September 12, 2018.

Is there any average processing time between processing the application and the invitation for the citizenship exam?

depends on your region .. you can look at "processing time comparison" or "location annual":

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UVvKb4Sem00uOCyB2kTeM2_AofgT_8b4uTJyBh9pXdg/edit#gid=566701841

CIC: Citizenship and Immigration Canada
AOR: Acknowledgement of Receipt (email or physical mail informing you that your application has been received)
ECAS:Electronic Client Application Status (Online service through CIC where you can check your status)
IP: In Processing
DM: Decision Made
RQ: Residency Questionnaire
FP: Fingerprint Request
2017 Tracker: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16cfQUVB3j56QktacolbsAxpNlOrvk2uFGZzm_ZFCnfg/edit#gid=1723141943

Thank you guys. Funnily enough I just received an email from immigration. Citizenship test is scheduled for February 4th, 2019.
Thank you again.

For people aged 55 or more, they only have to pass the interview.
Typically, they're called with others and wait for younger applicants to pass their exams before the interview takes place.
There's no direct oath calling.

DO YOU ANY IDEA WHAT TYPE OF QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE INTERVIEW TO PERSONS AGED 55 OR MORE
I think they will basically check your documents and make sure they are the same ones you sent originals of. Since there is no test or language requirement, there's not much else they can do, other than check the documents and make sure eligibility/prohibitions are in order
