Any China Applicants active here with profile timelines or experiences to share? Hoping to give my spouse some assurances that she hasn't missed an email request for her passport. Do they phone her to? (she had some minor problems with an unrelated lost email recently.) Does anyone know if the ECAS status shows any changes when the passport request is emailed? If not, is there a recommended method of checking on application status details such as this? Thanks much for any replies
Any China Applicants in process here lately? ::)

"Sitting" - Yes, it certainly seems like that.

So, you've gotten the Sponsorship Approval - did you apply directly to the Beijing office? I see your transfer date, but I'm just a little confused by your stats..

Whats confusing to you ?

Visa Office......: Beijing
App. Filed.......: APR 2, 2014 (Mississauga)
AOR Received.: MAY 22, 2014 (Mississauga)
File Transfer...: MAY 26, 2014 (Mississauga) to Beijing
Med's Done....: FEB 22, 2014 (Done before App) Ecas currently shows they have been received.

People seem to say if medicals have been received that means the Visa office abroad has your application. I don't know if that's true or not as I believe Beijing does send an AOR2 - but I have not received one.

Ah Yes - not confusing with the parentheticals :)

BTW, My wife did receive an AOR2 from Beijing 7-1/2 weeks after the file transfer (and ecas updated status to, 'application and Meds rec'd')

Hopefully this all happens quickly enough, it seems the Beijing office is pretty fast.

I'm living in Beijing with my wife at the moment and my job ends at the end of August, If all goes well we will receive the visa right around that time do a little trip to visit her family, Maybe take a trip to Thailand or Bali, and then leave for Canada around the beginning or middle of October..

Yes with some, it seems the PPR is happening sooner than I would expect. I've seen on some spreadsheets, 2 weeks or less from AOR2 Beijing! Though not us, yet ::) - It's been 4 weeks so far. Must depend on the individual case worker, and maybe certain points in a given application that require corroboration.

I would guess that yours will be one of the quicker ones to move along in that you're working in Beijing which has strong points in the financial and relationship assessment. Are you listed on any spreadsheets? Don't know why you haven't rec'd the AOR2... Might be something again to do with the individual case officer.

Hello.
This question is not for spouse but for parents.

Once my wife gets PR and we schedule wedding here in Toronto, we need to get her parents to come so they can attend the ceremony.

Which is the safest and fastest way of getting them here? standard visitor visa? Any tips?
A travel agency in China said there are tourist and family or friends visiting visa but in the CSIS website I do not see the second option (They were not referring to the children and grandchildren super visa) Any idea on what they mean?

Thanks.

i think the main difference is if they are not staying at a hotel they need a letter from you inviting them to stay with you at your house

Hi - Still here.
Our experiences of late have been relatively unremarkable... We got our first GCMS notes, which mostly indicate that our application has had a somewhat cursory look over, and an interview recommendation is in a review process of sorts. We recently voluntarily sent additional relationship information, at first attempting to send it thru the Case Specific Enquiry-Beijing portal, which is not functioning, so we sent this and one other update to Beijing's regular email address, and received an auto confirmation of their receiving it. Spoke with a CIC Call Centre Agent about how to interpret our first GCMS notes (we've ordered our second set which should arrive before my trip to Beijing at the end of this month) and he was actually very helpful and gave some reassurances relating to various details of the whole process by which they come to a decision - regarding some key points, they seek a consensus amongst various officers... which was interesting. He also alluded to China, India, and the Philippines processing the greater number of applications, which was more or less his offer of condolences to the seeming lack of movement in information on any activity. ::)

And Yes, I have a feeling it's going to be close to estimated 9 months for most Beijing applicants - some spreadsheets show no progress from Beijing applicants who have sent their requested passports months ago

That's the pessimistic way of looking at it. I think those people just got their visa and never came back because if you load up their profiles you can see the last time they logged in and its usually right around the PPR time. I would think they would at least come back and complain about it taking so long.. :) . My promise for everyone here is I will absolutely let this board know as my status changes up to "visa received"

Currently though I am still looking for Beijing to acknowledge I exist. which I think based on others should have occurred last week but didn't - so hopefully this week or the next or the next next... :(.

ABC I have seen in other posts you seem to have them questioning a few things and they want an interview. Did you expect this or what do you think their reasons for going this way with you? It seems like you have had a very long haul from AOR to SA and then to a required interview?
