CIC has recently announced changes in Study Visa requirements under SPP & University category as mentioned below:

PREFERRED OPTION for proof of funds: Evidence of purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution, in the amount of $10,000 CAD to cover living expenses for your first year in Canada and evidence of payment for your first year’s tuition.

As an alternate option, you can fulfill the financial requirement by submitting a copy of the receipt for the first year’s tuition fee AND a copy of an Educational Loan from an Indian Chartered Bank equivalent to $10 000 CAD.

If you are choosing the 2nd Option then it doesn't really matter from which source you are paying the 1st yr tuition fee, they just need a proof that you have paid it, even if it is from the edu loan, just make sure you have CA$10,000 equivalent funds available in your edu loan after paying your 1st yr tuition fee.

PS: This is purely my assumption as there is no official justification on this till now from CIC, so kindly check with other trust able sources before making any final decision.

It is mandatory to deposit full 1st Yr Tuition Fee before applying for Visa, though you can pay this amount through any source even edu loan. Living Expenses can be shown in any of the TWO form either GIC Deposit or Edu Loan.

Yes Damil, that should be fine. You only need TWO proofs:

1. Payment of 1st Yr Tuition Fee,
2. GIC or Edu Loan available balance of atleast CA$ 10,000 equivalent.

It clearly states Preferred option and not mandatory so why ppl r worrying its just optional to pay full year tution fees and further it has mentioned that evidance of your first year tution payment that you can also show evidence in form of loan which covers your full year tution fees.

Moreover in alternative option its clearly mentioned as receipt of first year tution fees so here rules apply to pay full year tution fees in advance.

But you can go with 1st preferred option that says to show evidance of first year tution payment which you can show in form of loan If still it doest not clarify look at above point of preferred option it clearly states that Copy of receipts for payment provided by the SPP institution
(pre-payment of
first term is strongly recommended)
look at word prepayment of your first term mean first semester so just chill only change is for your living exp you can show GIC or loan .......

Since the new rule has come into effect very recently, so it is too early to confirm anything about this new rule.

Though you still have option to deposit only 1st Sem Tuition Fee & show Education Loan for the remaining 1st yr Tuition Fee & Living Expenses, but chances of getting visa under "Preferred Option" are always higher & student should try to follow it, unless it is not at all possible for them.

Lets see how CHC consider these options in the coming days!

It will be very difficult to pay whole year fees i.e 6.5 to 7 lakh INR for middle class student and also they have to carry cash for their living exp as there is no jobs for 1st 6 months so overall they have to arrange 10 lakhs of Rs before going to canada this really sucks ..

Hope they accept 1 sem fees and grant visas for jan intake .

yes thats what they intend to do weed out the students who cannot pay for education as these students go to canada with no money and r stuck doing odd job trying hard to pay fee they neglect education and start working 12 hrs a day just to get by, which puts burden on canadian economy.

But this is not right what if a student didn't like education system , college or place then what ?? they can't even transfer to other college and they will refund amount with lots of deduction this is ridiculous !!!

Now canadian govt started thinking of making more and more money out of this cheap canadian community colleges all canadian citizen who study in these colleges they have very flexible mode to pay fees and their fees are 1/3 of what we international students pay they hardly pay 2.5 lakhs for 1 year pg diploma course where as international student have to pay 7 lakh fee before coming to canada this changes are totally crap !!!

It look like soon they will become like UK and will not gonna issue work permit and PR to international student ..

student should choose wisely and i dont think these rules force u to pay but they strongly recommend paying. so if u want to increase your chance of visa u pay, i guess or else take ur chances . yes local student pay less as they r promoting local students to go to college . fees for out of state students is more too even though they may be canadian citizen. I agree colleges r making money .
