Hi everybody!

I have a question for everybody living in the UK and having experience in this matter. I am looking for somebody who does "Certified True Copies" of original documents in the UK. This is what it states in the "Instruction Guide":

Certified true copies
To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
•“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
•the name of the original document,
•the date of the certification,
•his or her name,
•his or her official position or title, and
•his or her signature.

Who can certify copies?
Persons authorized to certify copies include the following:
Outside Canada:
•a judge
•a magistrate
•a notary public
•an officer of a court of justice
•a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living
Family members may not certify copies of your documents.

I have found information online that solicitors can do "Certified True Copies" in the UK. Is this true because solicitors are not listed in the "Instruction Guide"? Also solicitors charge a lot less than notary public. But I don't want to make a mistake and risk the CIC office not accepting my "Certified True Copies".

I would appreciate advice on this matter and hope that somebody can provide me with information on where to go for "Certified True Copies".

Thank you for any help in advance! :D

I used the Post Office (they charged about £8 for 4 documents )

You may want to read the link and determine for yourself if it meets your requirements. There is a list of documents that will be checked

I hope this helps.

Thank you for this information. I have heard of this option before but I am not sure about post officers being able to certify documents for immigration purposes. Also, when I went to the nearest post office that offers this service on their website, the person did not have a clue about "Certified True Copies". I jsut don't want to risk complications in my application. Thank you though for your input. :)

Does anybody else have any experience in this matter?

Thank you for this clarification. Since all of my documents are foreign (not British) I assume that I cannot use the post office. I will look for a notary public in my area.

I also found the notary public charges too expensive in England (I am also not British), so I sent them (my documents - employment) off by courier to my country and had them all notarized and sent back to me within 2 weeks. But Notary public's here can charge as little as £150 for all your documents.

Why don't you book an appointment with one in your area and take it from there just to get a feel for how much it would cost altogether

Michaela.
Look at the checklist for the office where you are applying. For example London doesn't require any certified copies for FSW. Only copies or originals.

Where did you find this information? I was looking everywhere on their webpage but could not find anything relating to this matter. In the "Instruction Guide" it says that all copies need to be "Certified True Copies". I did not know that this might be different depending on your visa office.

Can you please calrify this information and guide me to the place where I can find this information?

Thank you so much.

I have read this document many times but I was not sure if by "Copies" in the document they mean "Certified True Copies" or if the "Certified True Copies" only apply for translations of non-english or non-french documents.

Thank you for clearing this up for me.
