CEC rejected

Hi all,

I did research based 2 years MS and almost finishing my one year experience for CEC after post graduation. Do I need my supervisor to write me a job experience letter for the duration of MS?

If by "supervisor," you mean student supervisor, then no. If by supervisor, you mean employee supervisor, then, yes. If you were not classified as an employee of the university, then I don't think you need to worry about it.

I am getting worried, my work permit states post-secondary teaching assistant NOC 4012 but this is a shortcut from CIC which does not understand what a postdoc is. 90% of my duties are NOC 2121.
Now, I applied as Biologist NOC 2121, but the work permit copy states NOC 4012, so my file shows contradictory information.

Will this be a problem? I hope I am not gonna be rejected just because CIC is not capable of describing what a postdoc is and throw in the NOC that THEY think is accurate...


any people in a similar situation?

I think you're OK, you followed the "rules" (such as they are) even if the original NOC assigned was not. I'm sure your letter of employment indicates that you're a post-doc, not an RA...

Thank you for your input jes_ON, my letter states that I am a Biologist, which is the definition of NOC 2121, which is the NOC I used for the file. Hopefully the officer will disregard the discrepancy between the employment letter and the WP. I guess I am becoming paranoid....

I am in a similar situation. I applied as Biologist NOC 2121. My work permit also states same position. You are right under NOC 2121.

Hi there

I got an e-mail rejection saying that I have not completed 2 years of work experience. Actually I started working from 13thApril 2010 and presently doing the same job with the same employer (This is my 3rd year of work experience). The problem is, my application reached there on 4thApril 2012 and the other is reference letters dated.

The following is the message from the visa officer,

I am not satisfied that you meet the skilled work experience requirement because you have not demonstrated 2 years of skilled work experience within the 3 years preceding your date of application. Your file was received on April 4, 2012, and you began your work in Canada on April 13, 2010, which is less than two full years. In addition, your reference letters are both dated January 2012, which is evidence of only 21 months of work experience.

Following an examination of your application, I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the Act and Regulations for the reasons explained above. I am therefore refusing your application.

Please advice guys what should I do. Do I have to make a fresh application or can I send the updated reference letters?

1. Application refused. New application and new fees.

You applied before you were eligible. You will have to submit a new application.

I guess it would show ''Decision Made''. This can mean accepted or rejected, there is no way to know more from eCAS.
but eCAS being the least up-to-date system ever, you would most likely receive a rejection mail before seeing any update on eCAS...

Those statements together make NO SENSE. The first one implies you are required to work 40hrs a week, and the second one implies you MUST NOT work more than 10 hours a week. Which is it? Or were you working two different jobs?

Yes you are right, I think we are good, I freaked out when I wrote this message last month, now a few fellows got PR despite a NOC 4012 WP (in FSW though) so I feel more confident!

Good luck with your application, you got your AOR in a decent time, let's hope it is a good sign!
