Hi everyone I'm a Canadian citizen living exclusively outside of Canada in the process of sponsoring my spouse to migrate. have anyone applied for jobs while living outside of Canada awaiting spousal sponsorship approvals? if yes what is the feedback like and timeline? my husband and i really hoping that before we land in Canada at least one of us will have a job or have a good chance of landing a job in the shortest period of time possible!

Any info will be appreciated!!

Are you currently working? I just moved back and had a gap in employment history. I couldn’t find anything (I have a university degree with 8+ work experience). I finally tried an employment agency and have found temp work. They also questioned my employment gap. Good luck on your move!

Hi, thank you for your response! yes i am currently working as an elementary school teacher with (2)two degrees. i am being told that teaching jobs are difficult to get? even though i seen a few vacancies online... most important for my husband and I is to be able to have an income coming in as soon as possible after landing! on average how long does it take to find a job?

This really depends on the local market's need for the skills you have, no one can genuinely give you an answer.

No personal experience, but I have seen enough posting on various forums over the years about this.

As you are Canadian, there is no complication as regards work permits and visas etc. The consensus seems to that unless you have highly sought after skills (and I read recently about someone with such skills that was offered a job after a Skype interview), you really need to do the 'face to face' thing 'in country'. That said, you should certainly start pulling together school contact information in the area you will be moving so you can hit the ground running.

Others have said it can take months to find a job once you get there. I think it would be unrealistic to expect to land a job within a couple of weeks and suggest you plan accordingly
