Hi guys,

I had applied for my work visa and dependent visa for my wife and son from India. I just received my passport yesterday with stamped visa. I had made an application for 18 months. However the visa granted to me is till 13th July 2013. i believe since my passport expires in Aug 2013 i was granted a visa till July 2013. However the letter of introduction attached to my passport mentions the validity as 12th June 2014. My wife and my son have received there visitor visa till 12th June 2014.

I wanted to know that when I land in Canada will i be issued the work Permit till 12th June 2014 as mentioned in the letter of introduction or till 13th July 2013 as on my visa. Anybody experienced such situation before.

Thanks..

WP will not exceed the validity of passport. If you are lucky you will have a WP with notes stating canbe extended to 2014. Otherwise, you will have to extend it with new LMO. Renew your passport before you extend your WP.

Thanks Pro_Public.. But i dont have a work permit yet . I have the visa stamped in India and i ll get the work permit when i land in Canada at the airport. Also does it make sense now that i get a new passport before travelling to Canada. I think there should be no issue if the visa is in the old passport.

You need to keep the old passport with visa foil on. If your gov allow you to extend passport now, I would suggest go for it. You can show both passports (extended passport) when landing to have full term of your WP.
