Hello Doc

First of all CONGRATS for the VISA.

Personallly i think that Australia would be good place for doctors because:
1. Higher salaries than canada
2. Not many licenses and exams in australia to start practicing. In canada it is not less than a war for a new doctor to start PRACTICING.
3. I could be wrong, but i have heard that in CANADA, inspite of shortage of doctors, they make it very difficult for foreign born ( born outside canada ) doctors to enter hospitals or start their own clinic.

I think that the worst utilized skilled persons from outside canada have to be doctors and physicians. Government of Canada cannot properly utilize the services of foreign born doctors and physicians.
This is just my opinion. This is not a personal view.
Feel free to act according to your instincts.
Good Luck Doc
Hitesh

Hi D. habib,
I know it is a very difficult time for you now. Deciding between 2 different countries. I have never been to any of these countries, but i have only watched a video of a Doctor during a Taxi in Canada. I was so angry when i watched that video. So it all depends on you, but like Hites has said, that Australia is better than Canada in the terms of pay and practicing your career. Please try the internet and make some research and also wait to hear from the captain and other important members of the forum.

I wish you the best.

Dear Dr Habib,
I have physicians friends who have immigrated to both countries.
Although both Countries are balanced in most aspects, it is beyond a shadow of doubt that it is much faster and easier to practise medicine in Australia than in Canada.
If you choose Canada, you just have to struggle more to get your medical licence.
All the Best.

All the opinions above r right except OMM's.

Simply put -- A foreign qualified Medical Practitioner mustn't go to Canada.... it'd be his/her worst nightmare. It doesn't make sense that u sit for all the education once again... spend over 5-6 yrs on it here & even then u might not get allotted for a residency... wait times r mind-boggling!

I'm aware of ppl who took over 12 yrs to become a doctor, once again, in Canada. Meanwhile u could do with some medical related jobs - though they r pretty hard to fetch... your only alternative would be switching careers... which, given the strength of this noble profession, is audacious.

My take:
Go to Australia instead... your professional going/growth would be much simpler/easier there. Canada, as of today, is not for u guys. And that's a hard fact of life!

hi friends, Thanks for your opinion and advice.
i have decided to try my luck in Australia first. but I don't want to lose the chance of Canada right now. So i have planed to go to Toronto on august for landing (the last day of first entry is 3rd November). I will stay there for a week in my uncle's place and then I will go to Adelaide. I hope through that I will be able to retain my Canadian PR for at least three years.

Hello Doc

That is a smart decision. Retain your candian permanent residency and work in Adelaide. You will definitely be rich quicker in AUS, than struggling in Canada to even start your PRACTICE.
GOOD LUCK

If you search a few days back about canada not for doctors some one posted a quote form speech of the immigration minister saying that doctors work as cleaners in hotels and since it is a licensed profession the related professional bodies make it impossible for foreign doctors to practice in Canada. Infact what I have heard they also work as taxi drivers, security guards, restaurants etc. but not as doctors. Some did manage to work in day care centres or health related lower end jobs but that too with 3-6 months of training.

In Australia you can be up and running as a doctor in shortest possible time.

The irony of the immigration policy of Canada is that the more the qualified you are the hardest it is to practice your profession, with doctors the worst suffering class (only after uni professors and college teachers who qualified for fast track post feb2008 Ministerial instructions MI-1).

@ ultra99, unfortunately yes for pharmacists too. Pharmacists as of now will have to resit their course ie go back to school. It is about 4 years of study and mind bloggling fee of course.
