Looks like we will have a 15,000 increase in quota. 280,000 ~ 320,000 compared with 280,000 ~ 305,000 in 2016.

Ok, this is the summary table for three years 2015, 2016 and 2017 based on the:

Key Highlights 2017 Immigration Levels Plan

and

Key Highlights – 2016 Immigration Levels Plan

Immigration Class 2017 Levels Plan Target 2016 Levels Plan Target 2015 Levels Plan Target
Economic Total172,500160,600181,300
Family Total84,00080,00068,000
Refugee Total40,00055,80024,800
Humanitarian Total3,5003,6005,100
Overall300,000300,000279,200

So there is a reduce of:
  • 15,800 in quota for Refugee class (40,000 vs. 55,800)

while we have an increase of

  • 11,900 in quota for Economic class (172,500 vs. 160,600)

From what I see, the quota for Economic stream this year still hasn't gone back to the 2015's (172,500 vs. 181,300).

There doesn't seem to be any significant difference from 2016 numbers.....In case I missed something!

+1 for posting! :)

There seems to be small increase in "Economic" class but also increase in "Protected Persons and Refugees" class

Federal economic class jumped from 58,400 to 73,700. Although we will need to see if this corresponds to a meaningful impact.

It just looks like we went back to the 2015 numbers. But the reduction in backlogs would mean more draws from express entry; which is good!

Is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program going to be a new thing? Wonder how different it's going to be from the current PNPs.

My PR application is ongoing at the moment, should get PPR around February. Am I considered part of 2016 or 2017 quota?

Guys I just realized that inside the economic category the caregivers and quebec both took a big hit for the pnp and federal skilled workers. It's good news for those of the latter and hard luck for the others. It seems quebec business was dynamic and they decided to merge with quebec workers.

Alexios07 please put the subcategories of economic. It would be more beneficial. THANKS.
