can trv convert to open work permit

hi me and my wife came to Canada wife full time student with graduate studies .
at the port of entry she got study permit for 2 and half years
me and our child came as tempery resident visa with single entry. so immigration officer says i can apply for any category if i wish .

my problems is
1.can i apply for open work permit right now?
2.to apply open work permit what i need i mean any SIN numbers or any documents from wife side
3.how can i extend my visa because i got only 6 months visitor visa
4.how much cost for getting open work permit
5.how can i extend child visa as child visa also in my passport.

hello, if you dont mind me asking how your wife get her study permit? Did she apply before coming here or you just apply at the port of entry. My wife and 3 kids are all here as tourist, but we now have plans to stay longer and hopefully permanently. we're thinking of her changing status from tourist to student by applying from within Canada. Anybody can give suggestions or advice please.
