Can poor academic performance affect renewing a study permit?

Hi guys

I studied one semester in university and failed in 2 courses and GPA is 0.66 (probation).

I was wondering if any of you had the same problem and got study permit renewed without refusal.

* Are there any exceptions for new university students who failed? Because I will study hard in second semester to improve my GPA.

Please comment

I will certainly study hard to improve my GPA, but I need go back to Canada. The university gave me a letter to immigration that mentions the dates of the semester I attended. Also, it says that Im eligible to enroll in fall 2012.

Am I fine as long as I have the acceptance letter? :((( Really worried about it!

Why would I apply for another school while they gave me a verification of enrollment? It seems to me the same thing because its all acceptance letter. I couldnt do well in the first semester because I had difficulties with Calculus and Physics in English. I used to study them on my language. Now I can handle those stuff well and Im sure that I can improve my GPA.

I dont have a work permit. Will apply for it after I get my visa and study permit renewed and improve my GPA (hopefully)

Really? :((((((( OMG!!

The whole story is:

I went to Canada on July 2010 to study English. I studied in 2 different schools and got graduation certificates. Then I went to university in sep 2011 and finished in Dec, but I failed in two courses. After Christmas and before winter semester began, I had a call from my family back home, so I had to leave Canada before my study permit expired (maybe 25 days before expiration). I called my advisor and asked him what to do, he told me to postpone my studies until Im done. Now, Im done and I need to return to Canada.

I have to apply again because my study permit expired about 5 months ago.

I've attached everythin I have with application (verification of enrollment, photocopy of passport, financial guarantee, study permit application, family info application, $125, letter of explanation, high school certificate, english school graduation certificates, fall transcript) I think this is all.

Shouldnt it be fine for me because I never stayed in Canada illegally?

The whole point of a study permit is to make sure a student is genuine and that his/her sole intention is to study in Canada. Your Fall transcripts are clearly going to demonstrate otherwise; this is a difficult case. You need to provide a very convincing reason why your GPA was as low as 0.66.

I know a guy who came back to his home country after being in a similar situation. Not only were his subsequent visa requests denied, but also other countries denied his student visa applications coz of his poor prior overseas academic record. He finally gave up and settled down in his home country.

On the flip side, forum member "wilmani" came back to her home country after 2 years from the UK without finishing her Master's (not sure for academic reasons or something else) but she was granted a Canadian study permit without any further questions. So all hope is not lost :)

Whatever happens, please remember from now on, dude. ALWAYS do well in your studies when abroad - it's more important than you think.
