Can I apply for a student Permit with 6-7 months left Passport????

Hello,

I'm currently working here in Canada with the Post grad work permit which will expire in Dec 31 of 2015 (My passport will also expire on Dec 31 of 2015)

I'm going back to school as of this September for my Masters, and was wondering If I can apply for a student permit with my current passport? I would need a 2 year of student permit, but I figured I'll just get the student permit now, and extend my passport + student permit around October BECAUSE .... South Korean government won't extend my passport till late September.

Is this doable? or should I find a way to extend my passport first, then apply for a student permit?

u can go ahead but its not RECOMMENDED.
