My parents landed in Canada last year after I sponsored them to come here, Now my mother had her US immigration papers filed by her sister in US, which are near completion. I wanted to know Since my mother is Canadian Immigrant and she will have to Land in US some time this year can she keep both American and Canadian permanent residence. Is there any law that forces her to keep one residence from either one.

Hi
I do know that if she leaves the U.S for over 1 year she loses her American Status as a permanent resident. She would no longer be considered a Permanent resident of the U.S, And they would void her documents. I was told that by a U.S Customs agent.

No, there's no law. But it will be very difficult to satisfy the requirements of residency in both countries at the same time.
