Hey guys

I applied for BOWP on Oct 1 and received my refusal letter today:
I was laid off and since the new OB, it appears they are indeed becoming more strict on the 4 month ruling - my WP expires in Sept 2014.
Sorry to hear! Those a cases where I don't understand CICs decisions. Like why would they refuse an application from
someone willing to work. I don't get it.

Doesn't make sense at all. Especially if people get laid off. If someone leaves a job, that's a different case, but if people
get laid off and want to continue to work, there should be rules to approve those individual applications.
But then, one would have to proof that one got laid off = More paperwork for CIC. I guess they try to make the application
as easy as possible by ruling out every application with more than 4 months left of previous WPs and by adding all
the other requirements.

Sad tho.

Sorry to hear that LPC. Are you staying here as bachelor or with your family?
My boyfriend is Canadian - I applied for both Pr and BOWP as a single applicant

You're JAN applicant, hope that the processing times will continue to pick up pace and you'll get your
application approved ASAP. We're seeing AORs in 55 days right now, so chances are that overall processing
times will improve as well.

Thanks a lot for your reply LPC. I heard that they are considering family applicants for BOWPs. Not sure if it is true though.

I doubt it - if that was a criteria they'd need to list it. If you meet the rules you'll get it. Thanks to that sept OB, you're less likely to get it if you don't meet the rules

Hello Everyone,

My BCPNP PR is under process. I applied for BOWP on 1st Oct 2013 ( current work permit expires on 17th Feb 2014) and I received an approval email on 3rd Nov 2013.
In the email, under the 'Type" heading it says "Permit - WP-EXT / Permis - PT-PROR" so I am not sure if they extended my current work permit or its a BOWP.
I believe once I receive the hard copy I would the answer.

That's all I could find online:

Employment Location
PNP
When issuing a bridging open WP to an applicant for permanent residence under the PNP, the Employment Location on the WP must be restricted to the nominating province. Therefore, the Province of Destination must be selected and then the City of Destination value should be selected to show the province/territory NES. For example:

Province of Destination: AB
City of Destination: Alberta NES
But WP-EXT sounds like an extension to me, but it would also make sense for PNP applications, as employment in a specific province
is required, right?

Hey Bhavik...I forgot to ask you one more important thing....Are you staying here as Bachelor or are you staying here with your family? All my colleagues who are married and applied for BOWP got it within 35 days and the only bachelor who applied for BOWP was rejected. Though all my colleagues applied before 19th Sept, 2013. That is a different story. Can you compare this criteria to you and your friends and let me know. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
Kunishsa
Bhavik...I am re-posting my previous post in case if you missed it.

Right. Although I wonder what it says under "TYPE" for CEC people who got BOWP.
Thanks.

Don't have my BOWP yet, but according to the OB it should say:

The open WP will be issued under authority of R205(a) and will be coded as follows:

Validation Exemption Code: C-10
NOC: 9999000
Intended Occupation: Open
Case Type: 27 – Under examination

[ Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob485A.asp ]

Maybe someone who already got the BOWP can chime in on this?

me and my husband got BOWP approved on Nov 1 (applied on Oct 8). In the approval doc, it says the type is "Permit - WP-EXT / Permis - PT-PROR"
and our PR application is under CEC.
