I was hoping someone could help me out with a question about B4 forms? I just received my CoPR letter today and plan to do a flagpole landing next Tuesday. However, I don't plan to move until the end of September. Do I need to declare anything when I cross? My spouse lives in Toronto and I live in Buffalo, so I'm just going to walk across the Rainbow Bridge and back. Also, do I need any other documents when I cross? From what I've been able to research, I need my passport, CoPR papers, and possibly a birth certificate for good measure? The letter I received from CIC didn't clarify much!

Thanks!

I had a very similar question as you and it was answered here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/landing-as-a-pr-and-goods-to-follow-question-t433110.0.html Hopefully, this helps.

From what I was told there, you'll need to fill out a BSF186 (renamed from B4) for any goods accompanying you at the time you land, and another BSF186 for any goods you will bring at a later date. All you need is your passport, COPR, and BSF186.

Thanks for the help! The only concern is I don't know what exactly I'm bringing! I plan to get rid of a lot of stuff, since my spouse already has a fully furnished apartment. I don't have to itemize every single thing I plan to bring, right? Just the big stuff? (I thought I was done with all the tricky paperwork! ??? )

For most things you can just group them together, like clothes, books, furniture, and give an approximate value. Any single item that's very expensive on its own I would list separately. I don't really know exactly what I'm bringing either, since I don't really remember what I have in storage, but I'm fairly sure it's mostly books and clothes myself. I'd try and figure out what you have in the U.S. that you think you'll likely get rid of and what you aren't sure about keeping or not. Anything you're not sure of, you can include in the BSF-186 just in case.
