Applying work permit through current and new employer

Hi

I am currently employed through employer 1 as a skilled temporary worker (intra company transfer) and my current work permit is valid till Dec end 2012. My current employer has already started the extension process and has filed for my wp extension and it is currently under processing. I have a new employer who is interested in hiring me. I would like to know if the new employer can file for my wp while my current work permit extension is still being processed.

Hi,

Yes, the new employer can certainly apply for hiring a new TFW. The new employer has to go through the LMO process. Once the new employer has the positive LMO, they will provide you with a confirmation letter which you will attach with your new work permit application. Once you get new work permit which will be closed work permit (which means, you can only work for that particular employer), your old work permit with the previous employer will be nullified or cancelled.
