Applications made inside Canada: Is passport required to be submitted physically?

Hi everyone,

I am asking this for one of my friends. She has just finished her masters in Ontario and applied for a pgwp. She also wants to mail her passport to her country’s embassy for an extension, if approved for the pgwp, would she have to submit her passport physically or would it just get approved and mailed to her? Would this also apply to study permit extensions?

She needs to extend her passport first before applying for the PGWP to get the full duration. If approved -- it will then be mailed to her address. You only need to mail passport if you also apply for a TRV.
