“This draw is good news to all candidates and employers. Candidates know that the program is working and that they may be issued an invitation to apply for permanent residence, while employers know there are, and will be, candidates coming to Canada to help address labour market needs,” says Attorney David Cohen.

Indeed, future draws are expected to select candidates with high points for human capital factors under the Comprehensive Ranking System, but who may not necessarily have a job offer or provincial nomination. CIC expects that a significant proportion of invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence will be issued to people without job offers from Canadian employers. This is because the job matching facility for Canadian employers is unlikely to be in place for a number of months, yet the government of Canada aims to admit approximately 180,000 new immigrants in 2015 through the economic immigration programs

“I’m quite surprised that there were only 779 candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System score of 886 or greater. If CIC could only get that number from people who have obtained a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment or provincial nomination, it seems unlikely that the targets set under the 2015 immigration plan can be met without both increasing the number of candidates selected in each draw and lowering the required score under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

“This is positive news for people currently without job offers or provincial nominations, but I would encourage any eligible candidates to create their Express Entry profiles so that they may take advantage of this potential opportunity.”

So basically, make sure your profile is ripe and ready for picking. An ITA just might be coming your way, especially with over 450 points.

496 points is the highest number of points that a single person that has no links to Canada, no LMIA and no second language can score. My Score is 481. I hope I get selected in the next draw because I'm ready at the moment. My funds are ready and I'm ready to accept an invitation immediately if issued an invitation. I've been saving towards this for over a year. But the first draw really broke my spirits!

Even if it doesn't happen in the next draw, try to keep your spirit up, Singalingali.

The goal is to get in early because with oil prices going down, the economy will take a hit. Plus the Minister can revise his instructions for fewer than the current minimum of 169,000.

But I have no power over how early I get in. I can't just suddenly get married and have kids just to increase my points. I also can't begin to learn French language just to increase my points. You know how hard it is to get an LMIA. There is practically nothing I can do to increase my points.

Actually your points will not increase even if you suddenly get married. Quite the opporite, your points will decrease if your wife has no canadian experience and is not a doctor of science. For instance, I have 452 points with my partner, but if I'd applied alone, I'd had 468 points

I agree with you Singalingali. we can't do nothing to increase our points in the next few months, atleast.
regarding oil prices drop rate, it will take time for the economy to be hit. I believe that the Canadian economists are way more sensible in creating a robust economy for their own people and compared to US.
If somethign has to change in the lives of the CEC applicants esp. OCt 2014 - January 2015, must happen before summer.

I do not understand why applicants tend to get into hysterics after the FIRST draw. It should be understandable for eny reasonable person that the first draw will be with highest scores. Too many applicants waited for Jan 1, 2015 to apply. :D But in a longer run the score for ITA will be decreasing because applicants with 800+ scores will go to the almost end. (There are not many high qualified professionals and trades who ,even with a work in Canada, are able to get LMIA for EE)

I think your points can increase if your spouse has an IELTS score.

Already in Canada :P
So in the first draw
Foreign nationals who, on January 31, 2015 at 11:59:48 UTC, have been assigned a total of 886 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System that is set out in the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express Entry System, as published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on December 1, 2014 and as amended from time to time, occupy the rank required to be invited to make an application for permanent residence.

Do people in range of 450-600 have a chance?

Well, the thing is that number of points differs for an applicant with and without his/her spouse. Number of points with spouse sums up to the same one as without any spouse, but age for spouse, for example, does not make any difference. Single applicant, on the other hand, could get 10 more points for his/her age. So, my view is that hardly any spouse increases the score. Best case scenario, the sum will stay the same.

Whatever we try to do to increase our points, if it is not a job offer with LMIa or PNP nomination, there is no way our score significantly improves. So the only thing which is left is wait...Hope we'll be selected

I'd like to put some light on the EE teleconferencing that CIC had with stakeholders in the third week of December, 2014.

here's the link : ->

hopefully, that may answer a lot of questions!
