The principal applicant MUST submit IELTS with their application (even if you were born in the UK and studied at Cambridge where IELTS was created). If you do not submit your test, CIO will reject your application without fees being charged.

Hi all, Do I need to have IELTS exam since I finished my study and graduated from a Canadian university? If not, what about my spouse? does she need to have the test as a dependent?

Wow, very expensive yours darknight1!!!

It's funny because when I left the doctor's office I was complaining with my spouse of how expensive and simple the exam was. Now, I can't complain anymore, LOL.

I am not sure if other doctors using this system will be as cheap as mine, but I can guarantee that my doctor only charged me $336 for two people!

$40 for X Ray x 2 people = $80 (Cash or credit)
$7.65 for blood test x 2 people = $15.3 (Cash or Credit)
$120 for Doctor x 2 people = $240 (Cash only)

Actually the total was $335.3
May be its because of the Ontario health. im not sure.
After you mentione about your fees, i became curious and was looking at the prices of other doctors here in vancouver.

seems like the doctor i went was the cheapest this time. :(

If you wish to obtain adaptability points (Maximum 10) for dependant, then you may send IELTS, but it's not mandatory to send IELTS for dependants (accompanying spouse). If your accompany spouse has been working in Canada full time for 1 year, you can get 5 points for adaptability and there is no need to send your spouse IELTS in order to get those points. If your dependant is a child, I am not sure then.

Hey guys,

Just a note, cap was updated today as someone mentioned, but remember something;

It says 180 out of 500 as of november 6. However, the real date is not november 6, it is in fact July 24, which was the latest credit card charge by CIO. Therefore, there might be 360 or more applications as of today!!!!

Thanks for the reply. 1) if she does not have the full time 1 year experience, can she get 5 point with just the IELTS?
2)My wife works part time for about 2 years as a sales person in some retail store . Do you think that we can get any point for that?

Sorry for a lot of questions!

Yes, same issue with my spouse. Mine worked part time for 2 years as a sales person and we submitted a reference letter (with all duties for that NOC), together with job contract, T4 slips, Open Work permit and the latest 3 pay stubs and we got the 5 points of adaptability :)

I am not sure what the IELTS threshold is for accompanying spouse. You may want to check at CIC website. However, if she got at least 6.0 on each band, I can certainly tell you that IELTS will help you get the 5 points of adaptability and it's better to send IELTS (General Training) than collecting documents from her former job.
