I think this is totally unfair! why should the non-PR days be completely wiped off ?? Isn't the new rules intended to strengthen the application of those who are living in Canada for more years? so why not counting those year...

I feel so frustrated :(
Is this already passed into law, or just being contemplated? If it is already a law, when does it take effect? It is really unfair, I have been here for 4 solid years and I have not gone home in those years...

It is a proposal, however, I do not think personally that it would be rejected. It is unbelievably unfair. I have been here for nearly 5 years.

I also think that the proposed act will pass.

We did not get any adaptability points for being in Canada. Now, they won't count the days that we have been in Canada as a non PR!

Thanks for the explanation. The due date is 28th of January, 2014 which is already passed. What does that mean? They were going to assess my file then?
I really think it means next to nothing. My first GCAS was from Nov2013 and had a 'due date' of 2013 Dec 31. I ordered another GCAS on 2014 Jan 07 (delivered 2014 Feb 06) and 'due date' was changed to 2014 Mar 30. *Nothing* else was changed, … well except for another note at the end that is keeping track of when/how often I request the GCAS through the Privacy Act.

had a question: if I want to update any documents for my wife and I was the principal applicant, then can I send her documents or does she have to personally send them using my file number.

Reason I am asking is because CIC has this whole privacy thing right in which they do not reveal details to any one other than that specific person so I was wondering if I ask for adding her details to our file, then will there be a problem?

Hi maytheflower,

A quick question to your Prescott Bridge landing,
do you drive over the bridge & get a US return ticket, or make a U-turn, or directly park car near board office?

Thanks and I'm planning to landing from Prescott bridge too,
Jack

Please advise regarding medical!

(1) Can high values of LFT cause (SGPT/SGOT etc.) medical furtherance?

(2) Should the reports of high LFT (2months old) be shared with the doctor during medical or should it be left to the doctor to find out him/herself.

Hello,

PER Issued.
Hi Polaad56,

I'm assuming your PER was dated today? And when did you get your credit card charged?

You should let him now. Not telling the doctors and CIC about your medical conditions can be interpreted as misrepresentation.

You are responsible to send your wife's documents. Send them an email and let them know of your status change. Then they will reply and ask you for some docs on your marriage and your wife. So easy.

My new due date: March 25, 2014. This is the second time. At least I can add my PhD degree to my file by that time pending on a successful defense!

Just want to expand a bit on the new rules, especially the bit that I think will impact most of us, who applied under the PhD stream. One of the proposed changes to the citizenship rules would be that non-PR days will no longer be counted towards citizenship. This will set a lot of us, who are planning to apply for citizenship, by at least two years.
This is really unfair! I mean some of us have lived here for 4-5 years already. And it's not just about international students. Some permanent residents have been living in Canada for years and paying taxes and contributing to the economy. Now suddenly all those years don't count! Seriously!

At least there are some opposing voices. Although I think the proposed act will eventually pass. :(

Thanks for the reply. I am already married and had added her to my file previously. Just wanted to update her new passport and was wondering if I had to send it or she would have to but I guess I have to send them so will do so:)
