BG is in process turned today from not needed at this time.
Seems to be they're working on Nov'2015 files.
Just feels like to update to make everyone waiting time pleasant.

I don't understand how for some people background check is going to "in progress" or bouncing between "not needed" and "in progress" but for some of us like me, NOTHING is happening. It remains as "not needed" since AOR on 11th Nov.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to give an update and say I'm a longtime lurker. Like many others I got BG in progress yesterday and 10 min ago I got PPR!!

Timeline is:
AOR: 24/11/2015
Med Pass & Schedule 4/4A: 04/12/2015
BG changed to in progress and back to not needed some time in Dec
BG in Progress: 17/03/2016
PPR:18/03/2016

I don't understand how for some people background check is going to "in progress" or bouncing between "not needed" and "in progress" but for some of us like me, NOTHING is happening. It remains as "not needed" since AOR on 11th Nov.

AFAIK, the BG goes IP for Inlands pretty soon after AOR, and for those who're bouncing between statuses, it means they're being moved to another VO (usually that means they're Outlands being moved to their LVO). As for those who're stuck with "not needed/not started" til the very end (such as myself), I believe those are Outlands processed by Ottawa, without the LVO.

Thanks for the summary, Olli! I was just trying to count the PPRs myself)) Seems like they're clearing out the Inlands when they start on a month, and then proceed to Outlands.

Oh I see. Is that so? But if you're outland, how did you even come to know that your VO is Ottawa? In which country are you located right now?

Well, I don't know for sure, obviously) That's just what I was able to gather from what people post. There was an especially enlightening post by legalfalcon recently.
I'm from Russia and at first I assumed my VO will be Warsaw, but I got my GCMS notes a couple days ago, and it says there that my primary VO is CPC-Ottawa, and my secondary VOs are CIO and CPC Vegreville, the last one I suppose because I listed Alberta as my province of interest. Though there were no notes from them in the file, only from the CIO and Ottawa.

From what I have seen in the forum many PNPs never get BG check changed until the day they get PPR. It seems PNPs don't need BG check since it was done in the province, so they simply "skip" the stage.
