Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

All glory to God! After second attempt finally my visa has been approved. God makes everything beautiful in His perfect time! By the way, I applied under SDS this time.

• July 18 - Wired funds to Scotiabank
• July 26 - GIC received
• August 1 - Application lodged @ VFS Makati
• August 22 - Application approved

Hello, arrived here in Canada last aug 22, might be too late to share our POE experience, but sharing it anyway..medyo long post..

Travelled with husband and a 3 yr old daughter, Manila-Vancouver-Calgary..Vancouver was our port of entry. Upon arrival, drtso sa mga kiosk nila to fill up the online declaration form, kaso nagka error kami during the picture taking, so we ended up filling up the form nlang in paper..1st stop, inask kami ano gagawin sa canada and hinanap ung LOI for my husband..we brought with us managers cheque in peso na 400k and 1k CAD, lahat un diniclare nmin, hndi nman sya tiningnan, inask lang magkano equivalent in CAD...2nd stop, un na ung kukuha ng student at work permit for hubby, dun kami sobrang natagalan sa dami ng tao, hndi kasya ang 2 hrs layover, tinanong lang smen ano gagawin sabay bigay ng LOI at LOA, tapos un, wait nlang sa printed permits na sobrang tagal..my daughter was also given a visitors record for 2 yrs...So, dahil sa tagal nmin sa pagkuha ng permits, hndi nga kami nkaabot sa flight nmin ng westjet to calgary, nd ang worst pa, hndi na nila kami ma accomodate sa next flights kasi punuan na...one option was magparebook kami sa PAL for air canada, kaso wlang tga PAL dun, so we ended up sleeping sa house ng frnd ko sa richmond and just took the early flight ng westjet to calgary..wla po additional bayad sa rebooking, just say delay sa immigration.

So ayun, smooth nman po, ang dami nga lang tao..Our final stop is Lethbridge, mga 2 hrs pa from Calgary, bulubundukin at sobrang tahimik ng place, nakakapanibago..hehehe..exploring pa sa place and looking for jobs online....we are still adjusting, hopefully kakayanin to...AJA!!!!

Do not apply too early kasi may chance of rejection. Apply around 6-4 months before school starts.


You will get a student visa sa CEM. With that visa makakapasok ka na sa border ng Canada. Sa border dun nila bibigay ang student permit mo. With the student permit pwede ka na mag aral sa Canada. Kahit may visa ka na pwede ka madeny ng student permit in some occasion, although rare.

So ano ang best option when applying for Student permit? Should I go there via Temporary Residence/Visit visa and then apply to my school? If i understand correctly dapat may acceptance letter muna from school before I apply for student permit, tama ba?

Also you mentioned student visa and student permit - magkaiba po ba ito?

I dont know how you define its a good thing pero yes siguro good thing na siya kasi umuusad na yung application mo. Possible pa rin na mareject kahit nakapag medical na. yung medical kasi tinitingan lang inadmissibility mo on health ground. Marami pang inadmissibility check ang pagdadaanan mo.

Medicals is a standard process po. It is a good indication that your application is moving forward but you may still be rejected once your application is reviewed po.

Should I expect an application denial anytime since hindi ko for sure aabutin ang Sept 5 opening? Paadvice naman po what should i do now or what should i do next in case madeny yung application namin

Medyo tight po yata ang time line ninyo. What I would do is to ask the school if they can admit you for the next semester just incase. Medyo late na po kasi kayo nag submit. The fastest I've seen here is 28 days po yata.
