Any master thread for new immigrant tips?

Just wondering if there's a compiled lips of helpful ideas for new immigrants to Canada. For example, I know we need to take care of medical insurance, SIN cards, driver's license, and just generally going to a government service center to check for anything else. Are there other important things we might be forgetting?
