Yes, it could be helpful to convince immigration that you are a PR if they are in doubt.

but dear how can it be, if it is expired, lets say one year old.
will they allow to enter canada ?
even airlines do not issue ticket on expired PR card.

Immigration Canada is not equal to an airline. An airline is responsible for the people they transport to Canada having the proper visa to enter. Therefore, an airline will not accept an expired PR card as proof that you may enter Canada. They will accept a visa exempt passport or a PR travel document.

Immigration on the other hand will let anybody in if they believe that person is a PR although if they believe that you don't meet the residency requirements they may decide to report you and start proceedings to get your PR revoked. If that happens, you have 30 days to appeal.
