I have lived 30 of my 34 years abroad. Have all kinds, colors, race and religious freinds, Punjabis most certainly among them. Nothing against you folks, I just had reservations about threads that started from Punjabis and then moving to " Sikhs". I am neither against Punjabis nor against sikhs, infact many of them are dear freinds of mine. I am just against too much shrinking of threads. Good luck to all of us for the immigration.

hahhaha...this is just a self evaluation man.... how come u conclude that who is open minded and who is not...

Actually u have proved that how open minded you are by starting a debate which has nothing to do with important issues... grow up guys... the world is vast... u can't evaluate some race religion on basis of your personal feelings or experiences..... do take care...
Did I evaluate a race, religion etc or evaluate those who cocoon themselves? hmmm, read what I wrote again, might help.

People please understand. we are here to help each other. In a democracy everyone has a right to do what he/she wants. so if someone starts a thread let him/her. if you don't want to join it, then leave it. nobody cares about the subject line but about the content it have.

Check out the thread by HMISAPBK - My Landing Experience and Observations". Subject line means that it is about his landing experience. But look at the great information he has given there.

I request all my learned friends please keep yourself busy in helping each other.

Democracy doesn't mean everyone has a right to do what he/she wants. Democracy means plurality and helping people realise why it is bad to cocoon themselves.

Well.... from my point of view, u mean to say that in punjabi forum they dont discuss technical issues, hence nothing for me to gain in "All sikhs" forum as well as " punjabi" forum. if that is the case then why such fora.....on candian immigration. lol.. i hope soon everyone starts their dialet forum and only contribute to technical issues wherever the thread may be. finally, i aint got nothing to loose in a forum based on dialets, now that i know there is nothing to gain either. Thanks. case closed. :p 8)
good that you understand that you are not loosing anything.
I understand punjabi, bihari languages. At my work & living place mostly use English to communicate; and reading "welcome"/"Good day"/"best wishes" messages in regional language (something which is different from regular life) takes to lite moments. I do not find it offensive until some say bad for other.

Saying it for "All Punjabi" thread;

You are right. I live in Punjab but I am not Punjabi. I don't feel I fit in with the people in the forum and it is not about helping people living in that region but of a linguistic group. I cannot speak their language so I don't join their forum. I don't see what problems they could have that is different from a non-Punjabi speaking person living in Punjab. That thread starts off welcoming anyone who can speak Punjabi regardless of where they live, so the person saying below it is mainly for those living in Punjab is totally wrong and making excuses. This is what creates division. Most of these people will go to Canada and live in a bubble, creating ethnic ghettos. But what can we do, they are not open minded about other people as we are.
Language is medium of expression; language does not divide. If you respect each other then it does not matter what language you are using. And even if you are using same language but do not respect other; that feeling divide.
People in India are living with so many languages; but they are not divided; until politician plays politics (language, region or religion cards). If you follow "live & do live other"; does not matter what language people speak.
Some of my friends who do not understand Hindi (but Tamil); but still we are friends just because we understand each other & respect each other.
What can you do - you need to open you mind and accept others using different language in just one of thread. Speaking in native in just one thread is not offensive.

Democracy means one has right to express & share the way they want; Live & do other live is democracy.
Nobody is saying offensive words to other in that thread; which is with in democratic limits.

good luck.

May I ask the guys who hit upon it offensive; they believe that this forum is meant to discuss immigration problems only then what they are doing here? Is this an immigration related thread for which u guys are fighting here. I don’t understand these double standards.

I couldn't help but get annoyed at justification of another "all sikh" thread. This notion of starting regional and religious thread serves only to be divisive if not disruptive. There is "All Punjabi" thread then there is all "Punjabi Kudian" thread and now "All sikh" thread.... what next all "JatSikh thread....??? When you think it couldn't get worse someone starts another region/religion/gender specific thread. Interestingly the gentleman who started "all sikh" thread is soliciting people to join his all sikh thread on the very thread which is questioning the very logic of such divisive trend that has started on this forum. Incidentally it is the same people on these three threads for obvious reasons..... Punjabi>Kudian/Munde>Sikh...!!!

In another discussion forum immigration dot ca there too it was the Punjabi who formed inner groups and were eventually booted out of the forum to start a seperate thread of their own. Even if someone raised an immigration issue in these thread no one other than those visiting the thread will answer it even if they have the correct and factual information on this forum. So it is the members of such thread who stand to lose. It is better to leave them alone.

Any right thinking person will be concerned at this divisive trend. And those who are beating about their chest with regard to democracy etc have you analysed the consequences if the whole first/second page of this discussion forum is full of such thread and block people from posting their queries on the forum. Just having the numbers in your favour does not make you right. The word mobocracy comes to mind. It just beggars belief why anyone wants to use an immigration discussion forum for socialising.

Yes these threads are not offensive but if all were to start such region/religion/gender specific threads you may not like it and then it will be too late to preserve the sanctity and the very purpose of this forum.

I mean no offence to anyone ....go paint the town (read forum) red but in doing so you do not do any favours to yourself or others. God bless you and happy immigration to all.
Regards
A proud Punjabi and a proud Sikh.

Singh123, you are welcome to join the all Sikh thread too. If you don't want to, that is okay too. That choice is what is good about democracy.

All have written in support and against.... well all those who r against such thread ... "THUMBS UP" and all in support... am a lil bit dissapointed. the same attitude in this forum using language threads is the same attitude u all take to foreign land and when they segregate u from others u cry foul " RACISM". u are the ones segregrating ur selves. why would i employ pple who would come to my country, work in my office and turn it into regional language office. You start the division and others help u to solidify it simple. i have class mates who are fond of speaking their language in class in the presence of the tutor, so what the rest of us does is to "shenk" them and let them live in their world, as we also have ours too but we respect others and know where to use our language. This really affects this concerned pple (wont name the language/ region), in the uk as they would be the last to be offered job, becos of this traits.. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. :-* :-* :-*
