I’m just wondering if it’s possible for my husband and I to travel within Canada via Air.

He is NOT from a Visa Exempt Country. He arrived here on a Visitor Visa in 2010. We applied for Visitor Visa Extension 1 day before it would have expired, so technically would be on Implied Status at that point. We rec’d an email that the extension request was forwarded to Etobicoke for processing, and NEVER heard another thing back from them. Regardless, I know he doesn’t need to have a Valid Status to apply for PR.

We finally sent in our completed PR Application August 14, 2013. Because of an email issue with Rogers, I missed the actual AOR from CIC. However I called the Call Center, got our file # & my UCI#. I can login to eCAS, and see that our file is In Process.

Would we be safe to book air travel within Canada and just show them a print screen of our eCAS? Even though my husband has stayed well beyond the Visitor Visa in his Passport which he used to enter the country?? I mean we all know he is technically on “Implied Status”, but I’m wondering if this can cause some problems for Air Travel for us, even within Canada?

I appreciate all insights, replies, similar experiences! Thanks in advance!! :)

There is no issue travelling domestically within Canada, as there is no immigration to go through. I believe you don't even need a passport to travel domestically, just a drivers license.

You only need to worry when doing international travel.

The only ID my husband has is his National Identity Card & his Passport, no Driver's Liscence. I'm just worried at the counter or security they will see his passport is from a country which requires a Visa to be in Canada, and notice that his last Visa was from 2010, and this would cause a problem?

Rob_TO is correct....there's no link between airlines Reservation data bank and Immigration.....all the check in staff are looking for is that your name matches your ticket..your partner can even use his passport and there wont be any issues...

My tourist visa expired last year and I applied an Open Work Permit with my PR so I'm also in the implied status as well.

I travelled by air within Canada many times, I showed my Thai passport and it is no problem at at ;)

Enjoy!!!
