Hi. I'm in the process of applying for Canada PR through Express Entry.

My profile:
IELTS : Yet to take
Education: Masters in CS.
Experience : Software Engineer (NOC -2173) - 1 year 6 months (After Masters)
Expected CRS Score: 442

My Spouse Profile:
IELTS: Yet to take
Education: MBA in Ops and Finance
Experience: HR Manager (NOC - 0112) > 3 years.
Expected CRS Score: 469

My Questions:

1. Who do you think should be the primary applicant? And why?
2. Me having a technical background in spite of having a lesser score than my spouse will have a better chance at getting the PR? Is this correct? If so, then does Canada PR process give priority to one occupation over another as long as all of them fall in the job categories 0,A and B.
3. My understanding is having a higher score while having a valid NOC experience is directly related to higher chances of approval and quicker processing time. Is this true?

Please send in your suggestions. Waiting to hear back.
Thank you.

Your wife’s score and experience is better than yours and these scores also depend what will be your and your wife’s IELTS results.
No priority is given to any profession. Profession should just fall in NOC O,A or B
Once you receive ITA and you submit your application then the processing starts. Time taken from submission of application to PPR (passport request) email depends on your case not NOC or your score. Like your travel history, how easy it is to check your background etc

1. It should not matter much. 469 is pretty much guaranteed to get ITA, 442 is also highly likely. You can also apply separately and get it. Principal applicant needs to provide job experience letter to claim points. The rest of the documentation requirements are the same for both. (assuming no Canadian education/experience/relatives). So decide which one of you can obtain the experience letter according to specifications.

2. No. Provincial nomination program or skilled trade program does pick and choose certain occupations, but FSW does not.

3. They check all documents and background. Having higher CRS makes no difference. It may only make a difference if somehow one of your documents is not satisfactory making your score fall lower, having a higher score to begin with will make it possible that the score is above cutoff even after falling.

1. The person with the higher CRS, as it would mean an immediate ITA.
2. Technical background has nothing to do with the process. You just need to have experience in 0,A or B.
3. No relation to processing time with the things you mentioned.
I suggest the same to my friends as well, first get your IELTS results and ECA. Then you can worry about all these, as it is clear that with a good IELTS score you can get an invitation either way.
