Hi all,
I got a job offer today and would like to negotiating several issues. I'm OK with the salary but would like to negotiating for the following issues:

1. 1 week later starting date. They propose Mar 16 but I would like to start Mar 23.

2. Flexible starting hours plus 1/2 hour lunch. Their official office hours are 8-5 including 1 hour lunch but I would like to either start at 6:30 or 9 with 1/2 hour lunch.

3. Health insurance benefit to start from day 1. Currently, all the benefits started after 3 months probationary period. In the past, I was able to asked my employer to give me health insurance starting from day 1 even though the original offer was after 3 months. Somone told me not to even ask this for fear being sound like you I'm ready to abuse their health plan and sick leave from the moment I start work. Anyone want to share their experience?

I'm wondering if I should send email with all these 3 requests altogether but afraid maybe it'd look too much and therefore they'd agree with just a few of them. Or, should I be asking for one issue at a time? If I can't have it all, at least, I need to get point no. 1&2. TIA!

If I'm honest with you your asking for too much specially that you have not even started the job yet. If it was to do with the salary then fine. I don't think you should talk about hours until you are settled in your position.

The lunch you might be able to do but I would advice you to speak to your manager 1 to 1. Don't right a email and make it formal just have a passing conversation with your manager.

1. This is a reasonable request.
2. Legally lunch must be an hour. You cannot request a 1/2 hour lunch. Drop this request. Starting a 6:30 is too early - they want you there during business hours. You can ask to start at 9am - but then should expect to be there until 6pm.
3. You can ask but it's possible this is not flexible due to the plan the company has negotiated with the insurer.
