Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help, Having been to Canada on a number of occasions which has included spending a large amount of time in Montreal (mostly around Pointe Claire/Kirkland) I'd now like to consider my options and see if I could make the move the Quebec.

I speak french due to my family background and I believe that currently my job back home would match to something between NOC 1111 and NOC 1311.

According to Emploi Quebec both of these professions are currently in high demand though out the province, it won't let me post the links to their site but the details are out there if you use google.

From what I can see the only thing preventing me from going right now is the lack of a permit. To get one I think all I need is a job offer out there. Does anyone know of any specialized job search sites or resources like this for people in a similar situation to my own?

Look forward to hearing from you guys ;D

Thanks for the help!

Are you looking to immigrate permanently to Quebec? If so, read here:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/fr/immigrer-installer/travailleurs-permanents/index.html

Are you eligible for an IEC visa? This would enable you to go & gain the experience necessary to apply under PEQ (see above link)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/

Otherwise, you'd be looking at a temporary work permit (which could also help you qualify for PEQ). This would require an employer to successfully apply for and obtain an LMIA, but to be brutally honest, it would be unlikely you would get one for accounting technician.

Hi lammawitch,

I could get in under IEC for sure, I've also had a look at the settlement wizard link which seems to give a good response. The temporary work permit option seemed quite appealing as I liked the idea of having a job to start before heading out there. I know NOC 1311 can't really be used anywhere else in Canada (ie. Express Entry) but from what I could see from those links it didn't have an impact in Quebec.

If you look on emploi Quebec it lists the demand as high and it is the same for NOC 1111. It won't let me put a link in for someone reason I can PM it if that is ok? Would that have any bearing?

I was gonna try for NOC 1111 but my accounting desgination is not regonised out there and I'd need to do additional training to get a CPA designation.

I was going to try for NOC 1311 as I thought it would be easier to head over with that one than NOC 1111. Do you think employers just wouldn't bother going through the paper work for someone classed as an Accounting Technician?

Thanks again!

It's not a case of not bothering going through paperwork.

To hire a temporary foreign worker, an employer has to be able to PROVE that s/he is unable to find a Canadian or PR to do the job, in order to get an LMIA, as well as pay $1000 for the application (see link I gave you).

That's why I suggested the IEC: it enables you to come to Canada and work without an LMIA, which would give you the work experience to apply for PEQ. You could also apply for both QSW (when it opens), and IEC simultaneously; then "convert" your QSW application to PEQ when & if you have the relevant experience (ie if you come over on an IEC & work).

I'm not sure why you think NOC 1311 isn't viable elsewhere in Canada: NOC codes and skill levels are a Federal designation, not provincial.

Read the links I gave you carefully. Also http://ocaq.qc.ca/devenir-cpa-ca.html for CPA recognition/designation.

(You can't post links until you have a certain number of posts here - it's an anti-spam precaution, I think. No need to pm me: I know what you you are referring to ;) )
