Acceptable proof of brother sister relationship

Members,

I have been instructed by the Detroit consulate to submit additional documents for my application (Received Nov 18th 2008 at Buffalo consulate, NOC 4121). This includes proof of relationship in Canada. I have a sister who is a Canadian citizen. She is married and has a different last name.

What is the acceptable form of documentation to show sister-brother relationship. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Her & Yours date of Birth is the showing father name, mother name. Date of Birth is the good enough help you to show Relationship.

just as a reminder, you need to also show that she lives in canada, a copy of her PR card (or something like that).

Yes birth certificate is fine if it is only to show relationship.

Thanks guys. They have asked for current residence proof also. I'm going to send her bank statement and tax returns for past five years

I think to get points for relationship, you have to show the relationship through documentation, proof that the person is citizen or PR of Canada and proof that the person is currently living in Canada.

PR Card or citizenship proof, birth certificate is enough. rest of documents as per I understand its not mandatory or requiered.

I think if the relative is a PR, proof of residency is important else non-resident Canadian PRs might sponsor their relatives. I didn't claim points for relations so I really don't know for sure so you may be right.

They asked for proof of residency such as a bank statement or utility bill or tax return. It's better to submit these documents in order to avoid delay.
