Hello,

While giving test for IELTS do we need to give test under "academic" or "general". I heard from someone that people applying for PR should give test for general??

Please advice/Suggest

Immigration wants you to do the "General".

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp where it says:

Note: IELTS has two options for the reading and writing tests: General Training and Academic. You must take the General Training option.
There are people who will tell you that they took the Academic version and it was accepted but there are also people who have taken the Academic and have been told by CIC to go and take the General Training. It depends on the IO but if you take the General Training, you are safe.

Take the General Training. This is the requirement and it's easier too!

For Canada immigration purpose, you should take General test.
