I am working as Staff Nurse at HMC (A&E Dept). We are planning to migrate early next year once Visa is issued. We will have our Medical Test this Sunday at Dr. Malini's Clinic, the only DMP in Qatar. We're done with the Blood, urine & xray.
We filed under FSW (Immigrant). I filed my FSW application and CRN Manitoba at the same time.

oh, its been a while...hows my fellow nurses from this forum.?well guys, just rcvd my aor last oct 5,documents reached cio aug 12.

Im on process now of gathering second set of my documents to embassy manila, after submission, i plan to start with licensure process.

got some questions, especially to those who have started process for licensure or to those who have kind hearts to answer my queries...

1. I plan to apply for licensure in Ontario because most of my relatives are there.my problem is, Ontario requires us to be immigrants first before they consider me for eligibility.that means i cant be able to look for work immediately upon getting there because i have to wait for processing times.

2. Correct me if i am wrong, In alberta and mannitoba, a nurse may start application for licensure along with PR application, and if granted eligibility, can start working as graduate nurse in those 2 territories until she decides to sit for the exam.

3. If for example I plan to apply for eligibility in Manitoba and then evaluated and need to take SEC assessment or any other bridging program, is that eligibility good for mannitoba only? or it apply to all onther territory untill i decide to take licensure in one specific territory?

4. Unlike in the US that after passing NCLEX, i had the chance to endorse my license in other states anytime, is it true in canada that we need to practice nursing for 3 years before we can have license endorsed?

thanks a lot. hoping for ur response fellow nurses...

char_bonel,

Each province has its own guidelines for licensure. I can only speak about Manitoba because it is the province where my wife is presently applying for registration.

PRC registered and well experienced nurses from Philippines need not to undergo some sort of bridging program studies to qualify for licensure exam in Manitoba. And you can start applying for registration even before landing in Canada. They will give you eligibility and a schedule to take the exam within one year from the eligibility approval, even if you are not a landed immigrant. But, sitting for the exam has to be done in Manitoba. Once you are registered, even before the exam, you are allowed to work as a Graduate nurse for 6 months, but you must pass the exam before the 6 months probation period expires.

Once you have the license to practice in Manitoba and decides to relocate in Ontario, the license in Manitoba is not automatically accredited in Ontario. You have to undergo series of assessments again, but in my opinion it must be easier to get registration in Ontario and in BC if you have a license and experience in Manitoba than for someone fresh from the Philippines.

This does not apply to Ontario and British Columbia. 4 years nursing programs in the Philippines are assessed as equivalent to practical nursing course(2 years) in these Provinces.

Sorry, I do not know about the nursing regulation in Alberta and in other provinces.

Hi Power,

Can I ask about the time difference of your application from receiving the 120 days letter (2nd AOR) and the submission of full application to your local visa office? Thanks.

To my knowledge, BC and Ontario has more stringent requirements for foreign nurses. Other provinces give temporary liscence permit to foreign nurses straightaway given that they have done four-year Bachelor in Nursing. Good idea would to become registered nurse in any province other than BC and Ontario. Once registered, licence would be transferable to Ontario or BC .

For this reason too, we decided God willing if we get our visa we will land there. We initially wanted Toronto and Vancouver, but because of the heavy regulations imposed on these provinces, we preferred Manitoba. Once you get the registration, start applying from the internet, employers will entertain you as long as you are already registered even before you get the license.

After having 2 years Canadian experience, or after you get your citizenship no province would not be interested to hire you as a nurse. Licensing regulations will be easy then anywhere in Canada.

Hi char_bonel, aspire, prospective ..

I have been following your threads.. accordingly to that.. looks like due to high regulations in ontario.. we will have to opt for manitoba and BC for registration first.. I got few Qs in this regds.

1. You mentioned for phillipins 4 yrs BSN prog - ontario considers it as a 2 yrs practice prog.. Is it true in case of India too ?
2. What are the procedures for getting registered in manitoba/BC ? how fast is that ? any contact no/email addr/website will be helpful..
3. according to your guys.. if we have to get registed from manitoba because of speedy registration.. then we will have to land in manitoba.. how would that be possible if we have specified toronto, ON in application ?

can you pls let me know.....

All your queries regarding Manitoba nursing registration is here in this link

http://www.crnm.mb.ca/

Its not a problem to land in Manitoba while in the application you specified Ontario. Just tell them you changed your plan.

mdarji,

If you can practice as a license nurse in Manitoba, your salary is more than enough to support your family. No worries for your husband. IT profession is always in high demand anywhere in Canada.

Our plan is to get that license for me and my wife in Manitoba. Get the citizenship in Manitoba. Once I have the Canadian passport, I will transfer to Vancouver, and live there happily ever after. Vancouver's climate is best in Canada. Manitoba is one of the worst. It's too cold. Dreaming...???
