Would anyone know if a 1hr 15 mins layover in Toronto, for a first time entry for a permanent resident be enough to get to the connecting flight?

Others can comment but not enough time should allow 2 hours minimum. All depends on time of day as can get very busy with international arrivals could be longer than 2 or if lucky shorter but only planning on 1.15 is a risk.

Agreed. No margin for error with a short layover. 2 1/2 hrs would be my lower limit ( particularly given airline ability to arrive on time).

I am checking but all air canada ones are 1h15min... to get to a 2 hr layover i woild have to go with lufthansa and that is 150$ more per person and we are 3 ppl... the arrival time is 1 or 1:30 pm...
Do the paper process take a long time for a first time PR?

Thanks for ur help.

Look just consider that of all passengers transiting a small minority are landing as PRs so published airline transit times take no account of immigration requirements either for new PRs or simply for non residents.

It could be possible taking Air Canada flight and the arrival time versus another airline you could be lucky but any delay at all and you will not make the connection . Its impossible to predict which is why 2 hours for an international arrival connecting is generally seen as better option regardless of what airlines might schedule .

Also remember apart from clearing immigration you will need to clear any luggage through customs and drop it off at a connection desk for the next flight adding more opportunity for delay.

Ultimately your choice I guess all anyone here can do is provide an opinion.

forget about how long PR formalities take... what you need to take into consideration is as follows

- What happens if flight lands late
- You need to collect your baggage and transport to different flight
- domestic and international flights might be on different terminals

1 1/2 hrs seems ridiculously low, unless you know that the connecting flight will offer you seats in the next available flight for same price...

since you have asked this question - i'm assuming you are not a frequent traveller... so i would keep some breathing space for myself

Thank you so much for your insight on this matter. We are used to travelling to toronto and then go by car to london.

The flight being delayed and the fact that they might be in different terminals changes things.

You said: "unless you know that the connecting flight will offer you seats in the next available flight for same price... " how can i check? We r booking online...

Bags will be transported automatically to final destination as we have booked all flights in 1 ticket.

Typically if you miss a connection on AC, they will put you on the next available flight to your destination. If there is none available that day you may need to stay in a hotel at the airport overnight. AC would usually compensate you for the hotel stay if the reason for missing flight was their own delay, however I'm not sure if it was due to immigration process for you taking too long as that is not their problem.

A line up at immigration could make your landing process several hours long, it's impossible to know in advance.

Bags must clear customs at your first point of entry into Canada so you will need to collect them for customs inspection and then drop them off at the connection desk for the next flight. So yes they are checked through on a single ticket but you cannot avoid having to collect them in Toronto for customs adding more opportunity for delay.
