i am moving to halifax nova scotia. the salary offered is 45,000 , and on the form of tdt1 for tax that you fill i declared 23000 or so for the basic amount and the amouny to claim for my wife as she doesnt work. In addition i have two kids but that irrelevant. now ehen they are calculating the tax to be taken on my income each.month eill they calculate the tax based on the full 45k or would it be on the amount of 45 minus the amount exemptes to be taxes on

Taxes are generally calculated by employers on gross salary. Exempts amounts and amounts that you are not required to be taxed on has to be claimed on your annual tax return. You will get a refund on taxes deducted and paid over on your behalf by your employer.

i mean whe. you pay your taxes there is an exemption amount right that the employer will not tax ...so say when you join a company they ask you to fill forms in order to know the amount that they should tax you on based so everyone for example has a basic provincial amount od 8000 , so my understanding is the employer will only tqx you on anything above 8000 which is the basic corr3ct
